County’s Win Revived in Worker Free Speech Suit Over Office Move

In a recent First Amendment case, Bennett et al v. County of Rockland, a group of public sector plaintiffs raised objections to relocation of the County Probation office.  In response to these objections staff were instructed/forced to attend mandatory meetings.  A claim of retaliation was made, and Plaintiffs argued that Rockland County violated their First Amendment rights - punishing them for the protected complaints.  Plaintiffs lost, and the fact intensive examination of the case by the Second Circuit is an interesting one.  Check out the article below for more details.
